CORE BLOG MEETS... DANIELZ

While we celebrate our graduates, CORE BLOG is still getting to know our members. And it's going to be another handsome young man today. So last week we had the shy Suzzy who apparently, is a talker. This week, we have the not so shy Daniel (CORE BLOG has seen him come out to give special numbers a couple of times and he didn't forget the lyrics)  but apparently, he isn't that much of a talker. So let's dive into it.
CORE BLOG : good afternoon. Can you please tell us your full name?
DANIELZ : Onwe Daniel Chika.
CORE BLOG : state?
DANIELZ : ebonyi state.
CORE BLOG : what department?
DANIELZ: biochemistry department.
CB: Date of birth?
DANIELZ : 2ND February 1996.
CB: so Mr Daniel, as usual we begin with small talks. Do you like sports?
DANIELZ : of course.
CB: favourite sports?
DANIELZ : Basketball. I love it so much.

CB: so how many are you in the family?
DANIELZ : we are six. We have four boys and two girls.
CB: and what's your position in the family?
DANIELZ : I am the first.
CB: so are any of your siblings in the university yet?
DANIELZ : no. Just me.
CB: So Daniel, have you ever received an award of any kind?
DANIELZ : yes. I received a basketball award in my secondary school when we went for a competition.
CB: so what's that secondary school?
DANIELZ : apostles college in ebonyi state.
CB: we have basketball players going for NUGA. Are you one of them?
DANIELZ : of course.

CB: so we are talking to a celebrity.
DANIELZ : (laughs shyly)
CB: so apart from basketball, is there any other thing you feel you can do?
DANIELZ : I sing.
CB: Wow! that reminds me. The first day we saw you, there was this Frank Edward song you did. So is that your favourite song?
DANIELZ : that is not actually my favourite song. But whenever I have a need to appreciate God, that's the song that comes in my head.
CB: So Daniel, what was growing up like for you? What's your story?
DANIELZ : I have learnt a lot growing up. When I was young, I was a bit stubborn. But growing up made me know more about God and my behaviour actually changed for good.
CB: so Daniel, when was the first time you heard of the name CORE? and what actually came into your mind?
DANIELZ : the first time I heard the name CORE was when I came here for practicals. People came to tell us about CORE and I felt that has to be a great place. A place you can find salvation and I knew instantly that my life would be changed.

CB: so you heard the name CORE when you came for practicals? Where you at foundation?
DANIELZ : yes.
CB: so now, has CORE really changed your life like you anticipated?
DANIELZ : of course CORE has changed my life. In the sense that I got to know of those things that are essential in the service of God. I have also experienced God's protection and so many things.
CB: so what wing in CORE would you like best?
DANIELZ : I like the kingdom Restorers. They are doing so well.
CB: so is it safe to say the choir is where you will like to serve?
DANIELZ : I am already in the Kingdom Restorers.
CB : so let us get more spiritual. Have you covered any book of the Bible?
DANIELZ : no I haven't.
CB: but you know it's required of a Christian to always read your Bible everytime. Did you read your Bible today?
DANIELZ : Yes I did.

CB: do u have devotionals?
DANIELZ : I have them in my phone.
CB: so what do you do when the phone goes off?
DANIELZ : (laughs) actually nothing.
CB: that's the more reason you need to have them in hard copy. Cause if your phone goes off, there's nothing you can do. So now Daniel, can you tell us one significant thing God has done for you? We know there are lots but we need one particular one that stands out.
DANIELZ : I think that's when I was sick. I can never forget it. God has been so good to me. Each time I call him, he answers me. When I was sick and drugs weren't working. I prayed and I got healed. God was so good and I knew he is the only one I will serve.
CB: so now to a quiz question now. What is the name of the General coordinator of Chapel of Restoration?
DANIELZ : Brother Uchenna Agbo. That's his name.
CB: is it Uchenna or Uchechukwu? (clue number one that you are wrong Daniel)
DANIELZ : Uchenna.
CB: is this your final answer? (clue number two)
DANIELZ : Uchenna Agbo.
CB: OK Daniel. You will find the answer in our 'odds and ends' section when this is posted. So let's move on. Do you have a mentor? Someone you look up to?
DANIELZ : yes I do. Outside FUNAI though. His name is Chinedu Onah.
CB: is he a pastor?
DANIELZ : he's a vocalist.
CB: so what qualities did you see in Chinedu Onah?
DANIELZ : he's a very gentle person. There are a lot of qualities in him. He is very successful in what he does and he made it clean. I mean he made it the right way. He is also very hardworking and helpful.
CB: so I didn't hear you mention that he is God fearing?
DANIELZ : he is God fearing. I just forgot to mention that. He is actually an evangelist.
CB: Mr Daniel, where do you see your self in six years?
DANIELZ : after my service I will love to pursue my masters. And if possible my phD before going to the labour market.
CB: Mr Daniel if education fails, what other option do you have?
DANIELZ : I can go into sports. If sports fails too, then I go into music.
CB: that's great. You have a lot if career options. So how many years did you stay at home before getting admitted?
DANIELZ : two years.
CB: so what were you doing during this time?
DANIELZ : my parents never allowed me do anything. So I was just home doing house chores and helping my parents.

CB: so where do you reside?
DANIELZ : I stay at izangbo (forgive CORE blog's spelling. CORE blog is actually British.)
CB: so you were born and brought up in ebonyi state. But have you ever left this state?
DANIELZ : I have. I have been to enugu, anambra and cross river. There was a time I almost went to Cameroon. But at the border, we were asked to show our international ID card. So that stopped us.
CB: OK Mr Daniel. What do you think about dating on campus?
DANIELZ : I don't think it is necessary. It causes distraction. The fact you don't have a girlfriend doesn't mean when u get married, you won't know how to be with your wife. I think we have to be sincere and we have to live to please God on campus. There's absolutely no need going into practice here. If you hold in to God, everything will fall in place when marriage time comes.
CB: so you are saying you don't have feelings for any girl at all?
DANIELZ : we are all humans. But here in FUNAI, I just have them (females) as friends. I don't have someone I can say 'this is my girlfriend '.
CB: so what's the occupation of your parents?
DANIELZ : they are both civil servants.
CB: wow. So growing up, did you ever face difficulty?
DANIELZ : actually, I experienced a little difficulty when I finished from secondary school. I was at home with them and it was very hard for me because they had to take care of my younger siblings.
CB: so Mr Daniel, we want to encourage you to be steadfast with what you do. CORE BLOG has seen you play basketball before and we know how good you are.  We've also head you sing, and we loved it. We also believe you are doing well in your academics?
DANIELZ : yes.
CB: with all these and God's grace we are sure you will go very far.
DANIELZ : thank you (smiles)
CB: so on to small talks Now Mr Daniel. What's your favorite food?
DANIELZ : (laughs) Rice. Fried rice.
CB: so you like it because mum cooks it everytime?
DANIELZ : she doesn't always cook it but I just love it. I just love it. I really love it.
CB: so when last did you eat fried rice in FUNAI?
DANIELZ : I haven't eaten fried rice in FUNAI.
CB: you don't visit munchy crunchy?  (Haba!)
DANIELZ : oh yes!  I have eaten fried rice here. (laughs)
CB: Now you remember. So can you compare muchy crunchy's rice to mum's rice?
DANIELZ : my mum's rice is better. It is more nutritious.
CB: how do you know it's more nutritious? Do you get fatter anytime you eat mum's rice (Haba!)
DANIELZ : actually, I was supposed to say mum's rice tastes better.
CB: Now you are talking. What's your favourite colour?
DANIELZ : yellow and white.

Odds and ends. 
1. Name of the General coordinator : Mr Daniel said Uchenna. even when we tried to give him clues he was wrong, he stuck to his belief which is commendable. But the name of our General coordinator is Uchechukwu Samuel Agbo. CORE BLOG knows this because CORE BLOG is smart. 
2. The popularity of the Kingdom restorers : CORE BLOG isn't jealous, but it is amazing how every one's favorite wing is the choir. It's either they are incredibly good (which I choose to believe) or other wings are incredibly bad. Come on people! We have other wings you know? The ushering wing for instance. The organizing wing! Follow up! And you know... Publicity! Why does no one like publicity? You the publicity wing owns CORE BLOG right? You know, the CORE BLOG you are reading right now. CORE BLOG isn't jealous of K.R but somebody please like us!!!!
3.Shadow chorister : Mr Daniel says he's in the Kingdom restorers. But CORE BLOG has never seen him sing with the KR before. And CORE BLOG is always punctual in church. Any reason for this Mr Kings? 
4. The love for fried rice: Mr Daniel's love for fried rice was so evident CORE BLOG has decided to buy him a plate. So Mr Daniel, anytime you feel like eating fried rice, contact us. 
5. Thumbs up to the year one committee : so last year, CORE BLOG got an info that the year one committee led by the awesome Norah planned to talk to the foundation students about CORE. well, Daniel is a product of that brilliant decision. And CORE BLOG knows the New Year one committee under Sammie James will come up with even more brilliant ideas.
